About Open Dore HR
Open Dore is HR consulting built for businesses too small to have an HR department, and too often priced out of getting real help.
Most HR consulting is built for companies with a budget line for it. Open Dore exists for the businesses in between: big enough to have real employment law exposure, real pay decisions, and real hiring problems, but too small for a full-time HR hire or a national consulting firm's rates. Seasonal inns and outfitters rebuilding a team every spring. Manufacturing shops and warehouses that outgrew word-of-mouth hiring. Nonprofits with a board and no compliance officer. Owners with no documented plan for what happens when they're ready to step back.
The approach is deliberately narrow: fixed-fee packages scoped to what a business actually needs, not open-ended hourly billing or a one-size-fits-all retainer. When a business's needs are broader than any single package, that's a conversation, not a guess, starting with a diagnostic, not a number pulled out of the air.
Open Dore is based in Caroga Lake and serves businesses across Fulton County and the Southern Adirondacks.
Partner With A Seasoned HR Specialist
I spent the last decade-plus building HR functions inside 100-1000 employee companies, the kind of environment where a hiring decision, a pay structure, or a leadership transition gets scrutinized the way a due diligence team scrutinizes everything: closely, and with real consequences if it's wrong.
That's a different scale than a five-person inn or a twenty-person shop floor. But the underlying problems aren't actually different; who does what, who gets paid what and why, what happens when someone's ready to step back. Small businesses face the same questions, usually without anyone on staff whose job it is to answer them, and often without the budget for what "HR consulting" usually costs.
I moved to Caroga Lake and started Open Dore to close that gap: real HR expertise, scoped and priced for a business with five employees or fifty, not five hundred. I'm PHR-certified, and I bring the same discipline I used building compensation structures and managing organizational change at the enterprise level just resized, and without the enterprise price tag.
